Population One

The road sign boasted, “Smallest Town in the USA!” But when we stopped at the Lincoln Highway visitor center and asked the ranger about this, he grinned and said, “No, that’s not true.” Yes, Buford is a town with only one resident. Used to have more, it seems, but they all moved away.

But Buford isn’t the only town in the rugged west with a lone resident. “There are lots of town like that,” he tells us.

Bit of a loner, I’d say.
